Albany Nanotechnology Symposium (ANS) provides a forum for promoting cross-functional and interdisciplinary research in device technologies.  The symposium features industry sessions, job fair, invited talks, oral presentations, panel discussion, and posters by presenters from research institutions, industry, and academia.  This year’s topics focus on emerging research and development with semiconductor, quantum, and photonic device technologies. 

TOPICS OF INTEREST:

We welcome abstract submissions for contributed talks and poster sessions on the following topics and beyond:

Registration is free, but all attendees are required to pre-register online and talks will be in-person only.

You can find detailed information about abstract submissions, poster presentations, awards, and travel grants at the bottom of this page. All accepted abstracts will be compiled into a booklet for the symposium.

If you are considering applying for the student travel award, you may find detailed information about accommodation and eligibility criteria in the next sections. 

The participants are asked to provide short and long form of abstracts and speaker biography. Please use the template in the link to prepare the abstracts. 

Short-form Abstract
Please provide a short-form abstract of less than 150 words. This abstract would be the published abstract in any program documentation.
Long-form Abstract
Please provide a long-form abstract of less than 500 words. This abstract will be used for review of your contributed submission and selection within the conference.  One graphical representation can be included in this abstract body. The graphs should be high resolution (min 300 dpi), make sure the text in these figures can be read easily. The figure should also fit into the one-inch margins
Speaker Biography
Please provide a biography of the speaker, less than 100 words. This will be used for introduction purposes if your abstract is accepted to the conference.

Poster display instructions:

The maximum size of finished posters must not exceed 48 inches x 36 inches (122 cm × 91 cm). To fit within the usable area of the poster board, use landscape orientation. Easels, boards, and clips/pushpins will be available on site. A poster number ID will be mounted on the display area of each poster board. Please attach this ID visibly on the top of your poster. Posters should be printed and brought by each author to the summit.
Authors are requested to stand next to their posters for discussion and to answer questions, during the poster session.

To support student participation, a limited number of Student Travel Awards are available for those presenting at the symposium (oral or poster). The award is one-night accommodation at a nearby hotel. 

Eligibility:

  • Must be a student currently enrolled in an academic program
  • Must be an accepted presenter (poster or contributed talk) at the symposium

How to Apply:

  • Indicate your interest in the student travel award during the abstract submission process

Selection Criteria:
Awards will be granted based on a combination of merit (as evaluated through the abstract) with priority given to those traveling from outside the local area.

Join us for a panel discussion featuring representatives from our sponsoring institutions, who will share insights into career paths, industry trends, and opportunities for the participants.

Following the panel, visit sponsor booths at the Career Fair to speak directly with representatives, learn about open positions and internships.

All interested are encouraged to bring their resumes.
